love and sympathy

Today I had no joy in card making as I had to make a Sympathy card. A dear uncle passed away last weekend.
Making Sympathy cards are never easy so I decided while I had my stamps out to make a couple of them for my stash.

I have to admit that the Love and Sympathy Stamp set made the cards a bit easier to put together.
It is a very reasonably priced stamp set at AU$21.95 (clear) and AU$27.95 (wood) that I would recommend for anyone to have in their stamp set collection. p.68 of the main catalogue.
The simple watercolour flower and two sets of heartfelt words are just perfect.

I coloured the flower and its leaves with stampin write markers.
Cardstock: Soft Sky, Whisper White
Designer Paper: retired saleabration sweet sorbet
Embossing folder: Beautifully Baroque
Markers: Soft Sky, Crumbcake
Ink: Early Expresso
Oval Framelits

Here is the other one I did.
This time I used Crumbcake Cardstock. Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz
Fancy Fan Embossing Folder
Lattice Bigz Die (I cut the lattice piece in half diagonally)
Markers: Pear Pizzazz, Crumbcake
Ink: Early Expresso.

Birthday card in the box. Blue and Red.

The 2014 Australian Stampin Up Convention has just finished and I didn't go this year. Boo Hoo.
But I did go to  Unconvention! That is a fun event run online, by some great demonstrators for those of us who couldn't make it.
One challenge I didn't finish in time but I wanted to show it here. The challenge was a colour challenge, Red, White and Blue.
I had to make a birthday card for my Mother, who turned 83 on Sunday, so I made a card in the box.

Using, Raspberry Ripple, Tempting Turquoise and Island Indigo.
Cardstock: Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White
Designer Paper: Gingham Garden and some retired dsp from the previous holiday mini.

I stamped flowers from the Flowershop Stamp set and punched them out with the matching Pansy Punch. Look at all those flowers bursting out of this box! Wish my garden looked like this.

Added some butterflies from Papillion Potpourri and Rhinestone basic jewels.

Greeting from Label Love Stamp Set and Artisan Label Punch.

And a back view.

I love how good this looks with not much effort. I whipped this up in an hour which is good timing for me! Mum really liked it too.

Another thing I managed to do on the weekend was a bit of gardening. (flowers on the brain!).
The garden always looks a bit dull in autumn/winter so I decided to spruce it up with some new plants. I love pink, white and purple in my garden. I planted some daisies, pansies, a lovely rose standard and some other plants in purple and white I can't remember the names of but they look nice. hehe.

Hopefully this will bring back some colour into the garden. I'm looking forward to the roses blooming. Already have a few buds.

So not only flowers blooming in my card in the box but also in my garden!!LOL!

Thanks for stopping by. Come back again soon. Vx

Pink 50

Another day another birthday! LOL! Well it seems like that sometimes doesn't it?

Today I have a card to show you that I made for a friend's 50th birthday. She is a "pink" girl, so out came my Pretty in Pink card stock.

Then what to add to it???Hmmm... let's see... what do you think of this?

I embossed a piece of whisper white card stock with the Chevron Embossing Folder then cut a circle out of the middle with my circle framelits. Before I placed it on my Pretty In Pink Cardstock, I added a White Lattice die cut behind the circle.

I went with a soft colour scheme for my flowers and leaves.
Flower Shop stamp set and punch in Crisp Cantaloupe
Petite Petals Stamp set and punch in Crisp Cantaloupe
Secret Garden leaf framelit in Pistachio Pudding
Secret Garden small flower stamp and framelit in Pink Pirouette.

The greeting is from Label Love stamp set using the Artisan Label Punch.

I felt a bit of gold was in order for such a special birthday so I used the Gold Foil Sheet from the All Occasions Mini Catalogue, with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits for my butterfly.

I hope she has a wonderful birthday. 50 is pretty special.
I love using the Lattice die whether it is layered behind or used as a focal point it always looks good.
Have a great day and come again soon. Love having you drop by and reading your comments.

True Blue Birthday

Hello everyone, did you have a good weekend?

I have a friend who's birthday is today, and she is a true blue fan of the colour blue.
So what else would I use in a birthday card for her?

Yep. Lots of lovely blue in this card.
Featuring Pacific Point (the "blue" colour of the moment), Soft Sky and Tempting Turquoise.

I stamped the lovely Hardwood stamp in Pacific Point onto Soft Sky and stuck a paper doily on top.
Then I cut out the middle with a circle framelit creating a little window in the middle of the card.

I trimmed down a Pacific Point Lattice die cut (from the Lattice Bigz die) and placed it on top of the cut out circle window.

Then I decorated with lots of lovely Petite Petals flowers, stamped in Pacific Point Ink on Whisper White, Soft Sky and Tempting Turquoise.
Added a butterfly from  Papillion Potpourri in Pacific Point and punched with the matching butterfly punch.

The greeting is from Apothecary Art Stamp Set. It is anchored on each side with a Turquoise Glimmer Brad.

I hope she likes it. I certainly had fun making it!
Come back again soon. I have another birthday card to show. Vx

Tag Topper Side Card in Yellow and a quick tutorial!

As promised I have taken a few photos to give you a quick tutorial on how to make this very easy card. The day has been very overcast so I am sorry if the photos aren't as vibrant as they should be.
Start with a piece of card stock 21cm x 15cm
Mark the 15cm ends halfway at 7.5cm.
Place your card stock into your Tag Topper Punch and line up your 7.5cm mark with the centre of your punch. Like so.

 Punch both ends.

You will need to cut off the excess end pieces. I have marked this with a dotted line to show you.

Now you have both ends trimmed. Fold up your scallop on the right hand side.

Make a score line down from the left hand side at 6.5cm for your card fold.

Then decorate your card.

I have used Daffodil Yellow, Pacific Point and Whisper White Cardstock.
Pacific Point Ink.
Daffodil Yellow Seam binding ribbon.
Mosaic Madness Embossing Folder, Stamp Set and Punch.
Mixed Bunch Flower Stamp set and punch,
Petite Petals Punch,
Gingham Garden designer paper.
Paper Doily.
Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch.
Round Array Stamp Set for greeting.

I hope you have a go at making one yourself if you haven't already. The hardest part of this card is deciding how to decorate it! LOL.
Have a great day. Don't forget to stop by again soon. Until then happy stamping! Vx

Tag Topper Punch Side Fold Card.

Have you seen this style of card yet? They are everywhere. You can find lots of examples on Pinterest if you put in a Search for "Tag Topper Punch Stampin Up".

I have been dying to try one and finally had some time last night. It was very quick and easy to do. There goes my favourite two words again! hehe.

It opens on the side by undoing the ribbon.

Did you notice I layered up some flowers on the side using:
Mixed Bunch, Flower Shop and Petite Petals Stamps and Punches. They go well together.
The flowers are all stamped in Pacific Point ink onto either Soft Sky or Whisper White card stock. I added some diamantes as a focal point.

Here is a close up of the side closure for you. I used some 1/8 taffeta ribbon in black. Thinking of You comes from the Wetlands Stamp Set. I have also used the Modern Mosaic Emboss Folder on the Basic Black piece of card stock.

The butterfly is stamped using the Papillion Potpourri Stamp set and matching punch. I have stamped it in Pacific Point onto vellum and placed a whisper white butterfly underneath. You need to let the ink dry on the vellum or use a heat gun to dry it faster.

Cardstock used:
Base card - Soft Sky
Basic Black ( embossed with Modern Mosiac Emboss Folder)
Modern Medley designer Paper (on the side piece)
Whisper white and Pacific Point

Ink: Pacific Point, Coastal Cabana (Thinking of You)

I am in the middle of putting together another one of these cards with a quick photo tutorial for you as well so pop back again soon to say hello.

Mothers Day.
Did you have a happy Mother's Day? I did. Lovely breakfast and gifts then off to Mt. Tamborine in the afternoon to visit a local Craft Show and a nice little bush walk while we were there.
A cockatoo came to say Happy Mother's Day in the garden while I was having breakfast.
Mt. Tamborine is in the Gold Coast Hinterland and 40 mins drive from our home . They get plenty of rainfall up there so the gardens and surrounding bush always look lush and pretty.

It was a beautiful sunny day, hot in the sun and cool in the shade.

Thank you for stopping by. Come back soon. Vx
