Tutorial for "Flag Card"

Well, I am not quite sure what this card is called but it has these little flags inside so that is what I am calling it. LOL.

Sat down and made a tutorial for anyone who may be interested.. please excuse the old wrinkled usual hand model wasn't available...hahaha.

Start with your card stock:
15cm x 21cm folded card base in your choice of colour.
Piece of card for inside - I like white or vanilla but you can use any colour.
14cm x 21cm
Score this piece at 8.5cm...10.5cm...12.5cm
3 pieces of card stock for your Flags - 8cm x 4.5cm

With your inside piece you have scored you need to fold it.
Valley Fold, Mountain Fold, Valley Fold.

Before you stick this down to your card base you can add stamps onto the edges of the card if you want. Or a greeting stamp inside if you aren't going to put any on your flags.
I am going to leave my blank this time.

Now place some adhesive on the back side of the this card. But only up to the FIRST SCORE LINE.
My finger is on the piece below. You don't want any adhesive between your middle three score lines.
Stick this to the inside of your base card leaving a border as shown.

Now you can put adhesive on the back of the other side. I like to fold it over like so.
Put my glue on and then close the card together to adhere.

Open the card and it should look like this. Voila!
(Except without the words Glue written on it. lol.)

Now you can add your decorated Flags.
Place the middle one on the left hand edge as shown.
Then the top and bottom ones go on the right hand edge.

All done.

Now of course I don't like to waste things. So I had to turn this card example into the Real Thing.

I did replace the flags with a different colour but here it is. A birthday card for a special friend.

I used Soft Sky as a matt on the card base.
Gold frame and butterflies are from the Gold Foil Sheets in the All Occasions Catalogue.
The Gold Frame was made with the Square Framelits.
The circular bush in the frame is from Betsy's Blossoms stamped in Pear Pizzaz.
Leaves from the Secret Garden Framelits are in Pear Pizzazz and Wild Wasabi.
Butterflies are from Beautiful Wings Embosslits in Crisp Cantaloupe, Coastal Cabana and Gold Foil.
Best Wishes from Perfect Pairs Stamp Set in Calypso Coral.

You can't see it here but the butterfly is layered with Crisp Cantaloupe and Coastal Cabana butterflies.
Inside I replaced the little crisp Cantaloupe flags with Soft Sky ones and added some different greetings, butterflies and bushes to each one.

So there it is. You should give it a try. You can even add this into a card you have already made. I am in the process of doing that now and will show you in my next post.
Yes, I can't stop making them now! haha!
Next time I will show you my Mother's Day card and a Male Card with these little flags.
See you then. Vx

Blast from the Past - So Very Grateful

Hello everyone, I have been a bit quiet lately I know. Haven't been able to get to the craft table very much due to work and all the holidays - Easter, Anzac Day/ etc.
Still have a lot of work on but I just had to make a card for a friend's birthday (it is late but better late than never!)

So I wanted something a bit different for my card but was time poor so it had to come together fairly easily and quickly. What to do????
I went searching in my template/sample card box and found this old Christmas card I made quite a few years back.

This is what it looks like inside.

So using this idea I made a card. My friend's favourite colour is Orange and my favourite stamps at the moment are the Hardwood background stamp and the So Very Grateful Stamp Set from the All Occasions catalogue.

I used Calypso Coral for my card base. Stamped Hardwood Background in Smoky Slate onto Whisper White. Cut out two ovals using the Oval framelits in Crisp Cantaloupe and Smoky Slate.
I stamped the So Very Grateful flowers in Versamark and used Smoky Slate Embossing Powder to heat emboss. Then coloured the flowers in with Stampin Write Markers: Calypso Coral, Soft Sky, So Saffron and Gumball Green.
I tucked the Best Wishes from Petite Pairs (punched out with 1 inch circle punch) into the corner of my oval.

Now for the inside of the card.... Ta Da...
Turned out rather well.
Here is a top view so you can see how the fold works.
The whisper white card stock is 21cm x 14cm. Scored in the middle at 10.5cm then I scored 8.5cm in  from both edges. The little flags in Crisp Cantaloupe are 8cm x 4.5cm.

I stamped the butterflies in black onto the Crisp Cantaloupe then stamped them again in Calypso Coral onto white and punched them out. Layering them onto the black butterfly created a nice shadow.
The flowers are stamped in Smoky Slate on the Crisp Cantaloupe and then coloured with a blender pen and ink pads. This gives a softer look.
I also stamped the flowers in Calypso Coral on the edges of the whisper white.
Then a bit of dazzling diamonds and I am finished!

Or so I thought. But I still had to wrap the small gift. I'm finished!

We did go for a walk on the weekend (in the rain!) at Daisy Hill Forest again.
Said Hello to a few Wallabies while we were there and Mr. Kooka sitting on a tree stump.
(this isn't Mr. Kooka! haha)

(this IS Mr. Kooka)

And I am so very grateful to everyone who visits me here.
Thank you so very much, I really do appreciate it and all your comments too.

So Very Grateful. Happy Easter.

Hello Everyone,
I hope you all had a very Happy Easter.

I had a lovely friend whose birthday was on Good Friday.
Would you like to see the card I made her?
She is a "pink" girl. So I used Pink Pirouette for the base card.

I used the lovely So Very Grateful Stamp Set and the Hardwood Stamp from the All Occasions Catalogue.
I stamped the Hardwood Stamp in White craft ink onto Smokey Slate Cardstock.
(use a heat gun or leave a little while to dry)
I cut a square out of the middle with the Square Collection Framelits.
Then I created a Square Pink Pirouette frame to go on top.

I stamped the flowers onto some whisper white card in black and embossed with black embossing powder. Then I coloured the flowers and leaves with Stampin Write Markers:
Pink Pirouette, Wisteria Wonder, So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz.

To give a paper tole effect, I stamped the flowers 3 times. I cut them out and layered them on top of each other.
I finished the card off with a few pink pirouette butterflies from Beautiful Wings Embosslits, a pink pirouette ribbon bow and For You Stamp from Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Set.

I think the So Very Grateful Stamp Set was very appropriate for Easter time and the pretty Spring colours too. Don't you?

Happy Anniversary

It is our Anniversary on Monday and I wanted to make a special card to mark the occasion. If you are a regular to this blog you will know I have been moaning about having to get it done!

What better idea than to make a Card in the Box!!
Of course I made these way back for Christmas and you see them everywhere these days. Some fantastic ideas. You can see my original post for this one HERE.

I saw a Card in The Box recently where they had actually had the box on a diagonal layout and thought this could work well with my plan for a banner.

Come and have a look.

Can you see how I left the two flaps at the back up? This created a larger backdrop for my banners.
The card still folds flat.

I took a few pictures to show you a closer work of the construction.
Here is the banners.
Both banners are attached to the same two wooden skewers.
The top Banner with three hearts are made from Hearts a Flutter Framelits. I stamped hearts from the matching stamp set in silver and embossed them on the red hearts. The words in the middle are also embossed they are from Perfect Pennants. They were attached directly with glue dots to the top of the skewers.

The bottom banners have been made with the following stamp sets:
Quite the Pair: All Occasions
Hearts a Flutter
These were curled at the top and attached to bakers twine with glue dots. I was worried the bakers twine would become saggy so added a thin wire with the twine.

The twine was attached to the skewers by placing a small piece of sticky strip on each skewer and winding the bakers twine around it. Then tying off in a knot at both ends.

Here is a back view.

I have black card stock on the back but will add whisper white on top of this with my greetings and something suitable for the occasion.

The two inside strips that you usually attach your images to I attached rows of little glimmer red hearts.

For the card stock I used Bermuda Bay, Smoky Slate, Modern Medley dsp, Whisper White and Real Red and Black on the back.

Of course this is absolutely Nothing like what I originally intended to do! LOL! But it turned out rather well.
30 years is "Pearl" Anniversary. I happen to be rather partial to pearls. So you never know. hehe.

Look at the craft table after I was finished. Don't know what square inch I was stamping on in the end. haha.

Thanks for dropping by. Maybe consider making a card in the box yourself for a special occasion. I am thinking one for Mothers Day would be good.
See you next week.

Hello Lovely Challenge card.

Okay so I didn't think I would be back this quick! LOL! But you see I just joined a new Challenge Site and I wanted to get the first challenge in before it ends tomorrow.

It is a sketch challenge using the colours Soft Suede, Gumball Green, Pink Pirouette and Whisper White.

Plus Paper Players have a challenge to use 3 of something so I thought this would fit nicely with that challenge too.

So I got to thinking modern-vintage? (is there such a thing?)

I also have a bee in my bonnet at the moment with wanting to used products and stamps that haven't been as well loved as others in craft room.

So I pulled out the Hello Lovely stamp set as my focal point. I really like this saying but have never used any of the other stamps until today!
Also, some embossing folders and sizzlets that I haven't used in ages and this is what I made.

The squares on the side are from the Hello Lovely Stamp Set. I stamped one in soft suede and punched out with the 1 inch Square Punch and the smaller one in gum ball green that I hand cut. Then they were layered onto a punched out pink pirouette card using the Postage Stamp Punch.

It is a bit hard to see but I sponged the white doily with pink pirouette ink. I have layered it with Delicate Doilies Sizzlits .
I have also used the Floral Fusion Sizzlits layered together on a gumball green Leaf from the Secret Garden Framelits set.
Embossing Folders used:
Beautiful Baroque in Soft Suede and Pink Pirouette
Delicate Designs scalloped folder in Whisper White.

Then I finished it off by adding some lovely pearls on the card.

It is not my usual style but I think it works. And looking at it ... I have 3 squares, 3 flowers and three doilies! So I think I have both criteria covered don't you. lol.

Now I really do have to get on a make that Anniversary Card I have been putting off doing! Any excuse.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you back again real soon. Vx
